Quilt Quarter's is hosting a special guest this August! 

Dr. Susan Kruszynski lives in Muskegon, Michigan, and is an award-winning art quilt designer, teacher, author, and gallery artist - and she's coming to teach two workshops in the QQ classroom! Coming from her opportunity to speak at the Mudsock Guild in August, Dr. Susan Kruszynski has offered to teach one workshop on Thursday, August 17th and the other on Friday August 18th. We only have 10 spots available per day, so space is limited for both and you should buy your tickets sooner rather than later!

Workshop #1: Remembering Your Roots: Conner Prairie

Learn the art of collage landscaping with photo fabric pictures inserted! You'll be amazed by at how easy it is to create a simple art quilt of one of Indiana’s historic treasures. Awe your friends and family, and prepare to have fun - it IS so much easier than it looks! You only provide your machine, sewing supplies, & thread.

The super, pre-assembled kit contains all of the needed fabrics and an art canvas, which include:

Workshop #2: Downtown Indianapolis Art Quilt

Location: Quilt Quarters Classroom

In this workshop, you'll learn the skill of art quilting with a collaged landscape and will be amazed at how easy it is to create this gorgeous art quilt, featuring the waterfront Indianapolis cityscape over a swirling skyline. Learn how to use freezer paper templates and parchment paper collaging, but most importantly, prepare to have fun!

The super, pre-assembled kit contains all of the needed fabrics and mounting materials, which include:

About the Educator

Dr. Susan Kruszynski – lives in Muskegon, Michigan, and is an award-winning art quilt designer, teacher, author, and gallery artist. Feeding her artistic nature, Susan, at age 8, started experimenting with fabrics to produce colorful creations. She began landscape fiber art design with collage art quilts in 2014. A native of Michigan, her works, which range in sizes from 3”x3” to 40”x60”, are often inspired by the trees and woodlands along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Susan currently divides her time between:

  • Creating original collaged art quilt designs
  • Teaching art quilting
  • Marketing this fiber art in shows and galleries
  • Running her Quilting Fabrics in Time business
  • And only just recently retired as a literacy specialist from Muskegon Community College

Susan uses her 40+ years of K-College level teaching experiences and a PhD in Education to teach this art through in-class experiences in and around the state of Michigan, through on-line instruction, and with art quilt books from Fox-Chapel Publishing.
